Best Friend Park is one of the oldest parks in the county system that is being improved through sales tax dollars. Refurbishments already completed include the renovated Hudlow Tennis Center and 16 lighted tennis courts. The Gunnin Activity Building, which houses the gymnasium, was recently improved with the addition of air conditioning and a classroom. Additional improvements in the works include a new park entry, additional parking, improvements to the outdoor leisure pool, and two renovated adult sport fields. One of the fields will be home to senior softball games, and the other adult field will have a football overlay for adult flag football leagues. Plans also call for an improved picnic pavilion, a new paved, multi-purpose trail, open-play areas, and relocation of the outdoor basketball courts within the park.
