Chief Bill Myers began his career with the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services in 1983 after serving in the United States Navy. He rose up through the ranks from firefighter to Assistant Chief, proving to be a highly motivated leader with proven experience in all areas of the Fire Department. He attended the first paramedic program offered by the Fire Department and has served in some of its busiest stations for most of his career.
Chief Myers' diverse background and executive skills have led to the development of some of the Fire Department's innovative fire and medical techniques, employee leadership and career development, and the improvement of a work-safe environment for 800 employees. Bill's devotion to the Fire Department and its employees is reflected in his prudent, achievement-oriented management style of open communication and shared leadership responsibilities.
Chief Myers graduated from the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program and has Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering and a Master's degree in Public Administration. He lives in Lilburn with his wife Jami. They have two daughters, Jessi and Kadi.
