The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners recognizes that the County - with a population of 725,000 residents and growing - needs to do things that are within its power to ensure growth in employment opportunities and high quality jobs for our residents. To that end, the Board approved an ordinance to establish an Office of Economic Development.
Investing in the economic vitality of our community is a basic quality of life issue. Gwinnett has grown to be a large, diverse, and complex community. While we want to continue to be a place known for excellent homes, parks, and schools, the notion that Gwinnett County is simply a bedroom community will become increasingly less sustainable over time. The county needs good jobs within its boundaries. We need strong, profitable companies located here. We need a significant new and balanced emphasis on businesses and jobs to compliment our existing commercial base and strong residential presence in the region.
