Fire Plan Review Application and Guidelines

A COMPLETE Fire Plan Review Application Form is required for each plan submittal. This application is also available in our office. The parcel identification number (PIN) is required and can be obtained from the tax documents for the property or through the Gwinnett County Geographic Information System (GIS) Data Browser. To help us provide the fastest possible review time, please fully complete this form. Fire Plan Review planners are available to applicants submitting revised construction plans and/or documents following the initial plan review from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Department of Planning and Development offers several online services including searching for applications or permits. By using the application number (FIR), anyone is able to check on the status of an application through the Seach for Applications online service.

Gwinnett County Fire Marshal's Office uses the following codes: 1995 Gwinnett County Ordinance for Fire Protection and Life Safety, the current edition of the NFPA Codes and Standards as adopted and modified by the State Fire Marshal, NFPA 101 Life Safety Code 2000 Edition, International Fire Code 2006 Edition, OCGA Titles 25 and 30 Georgia Accessibility Code.

Procedures For Obtaining A Permit
Fire Alarm Check List

The Fire Marshal's Office uses the NFPA Life Safety Code 101 2000 Edition, and the National Fire Alarm Code NFPA 72 2002 Edition. Please complete the Fire Alarm Check List Form (PDF) and submit it along with your fire alarm plans. Fire Sprinkler Systems And Rack Storage Permitting Requirements

Please complete the Automatic Fire Sprinkler System Worksheet and submit the form with your sprinkler system plans. For sprinkler system or rack storage questions, please contact Steve Collins at 678.518.6103 or email steve.collins@gwinnettcounty.com.

Commercial Kitchen Hood Requirements

Any commercial establishment that produces grease-laden vapors or smoke requires a kitchen ventilation system. A permit shall be obtained from the Gwinnett County Fire Marshal's Office before the installation of a system. This permit will be issued to an appropriate licensed contractor.
