Explorer's Police Academy

Members of the Gwinnett County Police Explorer Program go through an intensive academy similar to that given to the recruits of the Gwinnett County Police Department. Classes include accident investigation, traffic stops, criminal law, and forensic investigations. All classes are taught by qualified instructors, many of whom are employed within these special divisions. Classes consist of both classroom learning and practical exercises that allows Explorers to work hand in hand with the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Goals

The Explorer program provides a community service organization for anyone interested in a law enforcement career and to allow young men and women to better understand the role of law enforcement in today's society. The Explorer Post also provides members with training and experience in leadership, teamwork and positive self-confidence. By identifying interested youth and exposing them to police work, the Explorer Post is used to attract possible officers of tomorrow.
