Community and Neighborhood meetings will be held throughout the project construction to allow you to speak directly with Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources staff and project managers.

November 2002

Two meetings were held in November, 2002 to present information to, and gather feedback from, the residents living in closest proximity to the Jacks Creek Water Reclamation Facility and the No Business Creek Water Reclamation Facility, as well as along the proposed tunnel routing. The meetings were held at the Centerville Library and Community Center. Department of Water Resources Deputy Director Frank Stephens led the meetings, giving a presentation outlining the County's wastewater management issues in the southern portion of the county, the alternatives that have been considered for addressing the issues, and an explanation of the details related to the solution - the No Business Creek Tunnel Project.

Two large aerial photographs of the tunnel routing were displayed on the wall allowing residents to identify their property and its proximity to the project. The presentation was followed by a question and answer period, and residents were encouraged to also provide written feedback on comment cards provided. Residents were provided with Fact Sheets providing background on the project, and frequently asked questions.

January 2004

The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources (DWR) held a community meeting at Main Office Building at T.W. Briscoe Park in Snellville on January 27, 2004 to talk about improvements at the No Business Creek Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) site. During the meeting residents met one on one with staff from DWR to learn more about plans to build a regional pumping station at the No Business Creek site as well as a new 24-inch force main (large diameter sewer pipe) from the pumping station to an existing 24-inch line along Springdale Road. Representatives from the construction company building the pumping station were also on hand to address any concerns. Residents in attendance had numerous questions about property directly impacted by the construction and pipeline installation but left the meeting satisfied with the answers they received.

Several information stations detailed the construction plans at the No Business Creek site, the routing of the new force main, and wastewater improvement plans for the larger area of south Gwinnett. Fact sheets gave additional information on the pumping station construction.

March 2005

In its continuing effort to keep the community updated on several wastewater improvement projects in southern Gwinnett County, the Department of Water Resources (DWR) held another community meeting at the Centerville Community Center on March 31, 2005 to discuss plans for the No Business Creek tunnel – a deep, underground tunnel to store wastewater flows. The project generated many questions from the homeowners in attendance, covering such topics as blasting and tunnel depth. DWR staff and the tunnel designers were on hand to answer these and other inquiries. The meeting also gave area residents an update on other projects in the area, including: progress on the construction of the No Business Creek pumping station, plans for a new 24-inch force main (large diameter wastewater pipeline) from the pumping station to an existing 24-inch line along Springdale Road, and modifications to the Jacks Creek Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) so it can remain in service until the tunnel's completion.

Several information stations and fact sheets gave additional information on the various wastewater improvement projects.
