To add a content item, you must be a member of an access group, and you must be assigned privileges either to Write or Approve content items for any category. For information about access groups and privileges, see "Understanding access groups and privileges".
To add a content item, first go to the Publishing Center navigation bar. Click on the option full form or the option instant publisher.
Also, the topics listed here provide guidance about adding a content item:
Note that the steps specified below in this section's subsections include links to subsections that provide additional instructions.
This section explains how to use the option full form to add a content item. This section also specifies steps you can take to use full form to add a content item.
There are several considerations that you should take into account when using the Full Form capabilities provided by the option full form. First, when you work with a Full Form, you must enter date values for certain attributes. Refer to "Entering dates and the time" for instructions. Fields on a Full Form may provide a Download link. "Downloading files" explains how to use this link. If you are working in a screen area that displays a button labeled Find, refer to "Finding related content items" for help and instructions.
To use Full Form capabilities to add a content item:
To select a content type, first go to the Publishing Center navigation bar and click the option full form. A screen appears that is titled Add. The screen Add displays the field labeled Content Type. The field includes, at its right side, an interactive control. Also, the screen displays an interactive button labeled Next. For information about content types, see "Content is organized and displayed in a content tree".
To select a content type take the steps specified here:
For instructions about the next step in the process, go to "Adding and removing a content category".
This subsection explains how you can use the option full form to add and remove one or more content categories.
You can add and remove one content category, or more than one category, by means of the option full form. Note that, also, you can add and remove one content category, or more than one category, by means of the options find and replace, instant find, and browse.
To use the option full form to add or remove a content category, first go to the Publishing Center navigation bar and click the option full form. A screen appears that is titled Add. Use the screen Add to select a content type, then click the button Next to display the screen labeled Add [Category], which appears here:
The screen Add [Category] includes, at its top, a screen area labeled Categories, and, under the label Categories, an interactive field. To the right of the field appear two icons. The top icon enables you to select a name of a category, and add it to the field. The bottom icon enables you to select a name of a category, and remove it from the field. "Content is organized and displayed in a content tree" provides information about categories in the content tree.
To add a content category, take the steps specified here:
Use the screen Add [Category] to enter values for attributes for a content item. For instructions, see "Entering values for attributes of content items".
To remove a content category, take the steps specified here:
This subsection explains values for the attributes of content items in the BroadVision sample content types.
The values you enter for content attributes depend on the content type or subtype in which the item is classified. If you are creating a content item in a subtype, refer to the topic for its parent content type, which includes the subset of attributes that define the subtype. Required attributes are listed in bold typeface. Attributes not listed in bold typeface are optional.
This section explains the attributes and values you use when:
The content type Products maintains your online inventory--the backbone of any successful electronic commerce site--by supporting the sale of diverse products, such as financial services and retail goods. This type is enhanced by the content type Advertisements, which helps you run online ads for products. Incentive content items are added in the Command Center.
If you enter width and height measurements for preview and full image files, you need to attach those files to the content item. See "Attaching files to a content item" for instructions.
The values for attributes of content you can enter in the Full Form for Products appear listed and described here:

You can attach to a product content item the files listed and specified here:
You can use the content type Advertisements to create ads for the products in your content database. These ads can be displayed on your site to promote the products and services you sell to retail customers and other businesses. You can also use advertisement content items to sell ad space to companies that run promotions on your site.
When you create ads, you can associate them with the products they promote and with incentives that encourage visitors to purchase these products. The content type Advertisements also supports the use of media enhancements for a professional look, and links to related sites of interest.
If you enter width and height measurements for preview and full image files, you need to attach those files to the content item when you finish creating it. If you enter the OIDs for related products and incentives, you also need to attach the product and incentive template files to the item. See "Attaching files to a content item" for instructions.

You can attach to an advertisement content item the files listed and described here:
You can use the content type Editorials to point cast and community cast personalized editorial content, and sell published text on your site. You can solicit editorial content, such as investment reports and weekly columns, from outside authors and publishers, and create your own articles, reviews, reports, and other informative media. In addition to text, you can use images, sounds, music, and video presentations as editorial content.
The content type Editorials provides two ways to store editorial items. If an author provides you with a text file, for example, you can keep it in your site's file system, and specify it as the editorial content to be displayed on the site. An alternative is to write your own HTML-formatted text, or use the text from an HTML file, and enter it into a column in your content database. The definition of the editorial attribute Text Form explains how to create these two editorials.
You can use the content type Editorials to record low-cost, online transactions for the use of editorials. The application provides editorial transaction processing that is closely integrated with the Visitor and Content databases. Transaction processing provides online fulfillment and records the digital sale of editorial content. Using BroadVision microtransactions with editorials on your site, you can create a scenario where the visitor agrees to pay for the selected editorial content before it is displayed. The visitor confirms the intent to pay and view before an actual charge is incurred. Knowing the accumulated cost per visitor, you can employ the Visitor Manager to learn the payment method for each visitor, and customize editorials so that the Sales Rep invoices the visitor. The definition for the attribute Bill the Content explains how to specify that an editorial content item is billable, and how to set the billing price.
If you enter width and height measurements for preview and full image files, you need to attach those files to the content item when you finish creating it. If you use an external file to create this editorial, you must attach the file containing the editorial to this content item. See "Attaching files to a content item" for instructions.

You can attach to an editorial content item the files listed and described here:
The content type Templates enables you to reference in the content database any BroadVision page templates used on your site. Combining BroadVision page templates with BroadVision dynamic objects in the Publishing Center application is one way for site developers to create pages for sites. If your developers use these page templates, you can use Publishing Center to enter and manage them in your content database. If your site does not use BroadVision page templates, you cannot use the content type Templates.
Page templates and dynamic objects are a part of the Version 3.0 and prior versions of the BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise. They are referred to as "templates" elsewhere in this guide, and are not the same as regular HTML templates. Your site may not use them.
The values for attributes of content you can enter in the Full Form for Templates appear listed and described here. Also, you must attach a template file to a content item. See Attachable files.
Be sure to attach this file to a template content item:
You can use the content type Scripts to reference in the content database any BroadVision scripts used on your site. Using BroadVision scripts is another way for site developers to create sites. Scripts are a part of the Version 4.0 and later versions of BroadVision One-To-One Enterprise.
The values for attributes of content you can enter in the Full Form for Scripts appear listed and described here. Also, you must attach a script file to a content item. See Attachable files.
Be sure to attach to a script content item the file listed and described here:
You can use the Matching Attributes interface to enter matching attribute values into the database for a new content item, and to modify the values entered for an existing item. For more information about how the Matching Agent uses these values, see "Matching attributes personalize content for site visitors".
Your developers can also implement an HTML interface for matching attributes in an Instant Publisher Form. The HTML interface implemented in an Instant Publisher Form looks and works differently from the interface appearing in the Full Form.
The document Instant Publisher Guide explains how to implement an HTML graphical user interface for matching attributes in an Instant Publisher Form.
The list Attribute Name lets you select the matching attribute, which is the area of interest that you are matching to. The list Attribute Field lets you select the matching fields you are rating, which are also the qualities or characteristics used by the Matching Agent to match the item to a visitor's interest in it. Use the column Rating Name to select a value for the attribute field. When the Matching Agent compares the matching attribute values of a content item to the preferences of a visitor, it compares the value in the column Rating Name to the interest or preference expressed by the visitor for each attribute field, or rating characteristic.
The Interaction Manager is updated for any changes you make to matching attribute values when your database administrator runs the
dump_taxonutility. See the document One-To-One Database Administrator's Guide for information about this utility.
In previous versions of Publishing Center, you added or removed matching attributes by means of the Matching Attribute applet. Version 6.0.0 of Full Form does not use this feature; instead it displays all the matching attributes. In the sample, the valid values are yes or no.
To set the workflow state for any content item, you must have Write or Approve privileges to the category in which the item is classified. You can set the workflow state when you are adding a new content item, and when you modify an existing item. When you scroll to the Workflow section of the screen, which appears here, the current workflow state of the content item is displayed. "Setting up workflow" explains how the workflow states are created, and how an item can have the workflow state None.
If you do not set the Next State and Assignee before you save a new content item, the item has the workflow state None by default, and is unassigned. An assigned item appears in the Next Assignees' inbox. An unassigned item does not appear in an inbox. To work with an unassigned item, use the Find feature. Chapter 4, "Finding content" explains how to locate an item.
To set the next workflow state and assignee for a content item, or to change them for an existing item:
If you are a member of an access group that has Approve access to a category, you can change the status when you create new items and classify them in that category, and when you modify the items in that category. When you change the item status, you can make it effective immediately, or at a date and time in the future.
Use the Status section of the Full Form to change the item status immediately, or specify a future date for the status change. Refer to "The attribute status determines availability for display and matching" for definitions of the two types of status: the status On-line and the status Off-line.
To change the status of a content item, scroll to the Status section of the screen. You can:
Off-line Date, or use the calendar to select it. Instant Publisher Forms are customized versions of the Publishing Center Full Forms used to add and modify content items. BroadVision delivers sample Instant Publisher Forms that your developers can customize, or they can create new Instant Publisher Forms, to define data entry forms specifically for your business and the content that you work with. With Instant Publisher Forms, your developers can combine BroadVision functionality with their database design to create easy-to-use forms that capture content information.
Instant Publisher Forms can use any of the features available in Full Forms, although the Instant Publisher Form graphical user interface for specific functionality may differ from that of the Full Form. "Attributes may have multiple values" explains how related attributes differ from other content attributes.
A content item deleted from a Instant Publisher Form, or in Publishing Center, is marked for deletion in, but not removed from, the database. You can no longer see or work with it in Publishing Center or Publishing Center applications. See "Deleting a content item" for more information.
To use the BroadVision sample Instant Publisher Forms, BroadVision sample data must be installed during installation of Publishing Center. Installation instructions are provided in the document Publishing Center Release Notes. Instructions for modifying the sample Instant Publisher Forms, and creating new ones, are available in the Publishing Center Developer's Guide.
When Instant Publisher Forms are installed as part of your Publishing Center application, you can access a list of links to them by clicking the option instant publisher, located on the Publishing Center navigation bar. A screen appears that is titled Instant Publisher. The screen displays names of sample Instant Publisher Forms. The names of the forms include interactive links. Click a link to open an Instant Publisher Form.
The following example illustrates the process for entry of values for related attributes by means of the sample Upload Product Form.
