Goals
|
|
Short-range - As has been the case for the last several years, our court is experiencing an increase with the complexity of traffic citations. Additionally, Gwinnett County Ordinance violations are also becoming more serious and complicated to process through court. Consequently, a new computer system is being reviewed to automate the courtroom process and enhance the clerk's data system
- As traffic citations and ordinance violations become more legally involved, we are placed in the position of trying to balance being cost effective with administering justice. Given these fiscal realities, we have to be innovative in our approach of processing citations in a prompt manner. One result of our innovative approaches is to establish a Court Information System for citizens through the installation of an IVR system and offer Internet information options
- The Court has experienced tremendous growth over the past 10 years. Doubling the number of citations issued in turn results in a larger number of citizens coming to court. In an effort to meet the citizen's needs, the court has expanded its number of hearings being held. The final phase of court expansion is to relocate into a new building that will handle additional courtrooms, filing capacity, staffing needs, and citizen's interaction
Long-range - Review and fine-tune our programs of collecting fines and payment options before they are delinquent
- Assist other departments, such as the Sheriff's Department, by offering new compliancy measures for bench warrants issued over 10 years ago
