Heating Assistance

Energy Assistance – LIHEAP • FREE!
Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:00pm at Centerville Community Center. By appointment only, until funds are expended. Call 770.256.1308 to schedule an appointment. The following documents and criteria are necessary: Proof of income for all household members 18 years and older for the last 30 days - if irregular, then 90 days proof of income. Self-employed must bring a current, complete tax return. Zero Income Statements will be provided at your appointment for those 18 years and older with no income. All household members with no income must complete this form. Original Social Security card or other legal documents with a SS number is needed for all household members including children. Most recent home heating bill. A secure and verifiable document is need for the person applying for the household only to prove identity. Crisis applicants must have a two month bill that is past the due date or already disconnected. One person $21,029, two persons $27,500, three persons $33,970, four persons $40,441, five persons $46,912, six persons $53,382, seven persons $54,595, eight+ persons $55,809. Each additional person should add $1,213. Those that are eligible will be able to apply for a one time heating assistance payment of either $310 or $350. Kids’ Fishing Derby! • FREE!
Saturday, May 17 from 10:00am to noon. Enjoy fishing for Big Herman, pond’s 30-pound catfish that is still on the loose! Children through age 15 will be able to fish without a license this day, so bring your poles and we’ll supply the bait and prizes. Competition ends at 11:45am; winners will be announced at noon. Parents must be present to sign a waiver for children to participate. No need to register, but if you wish to volunteer, contact the community center.

Living Well: A Chronic Disease Self-Management Program
Fridays: August 15 to September 19 from 9:30am to noon. Struggling with ongoing symptoms of chronic illness? Workshops teach techniques dealing with fatigue, stress, and difficult emotions; how to control health challenges and life; and ways to communicate with family, friends, and health professionals. Diabetes Education Overview • FREE!
Diabetes is a growing national epidemic and crosses lines of race/ethnicity, sex and age group. People with diabetes make daily decisions about their self-care that ultimately impact their overall health. Self-management education is key to the success in reducing complications. Early
detection and treatment can decrease the risk of heart disease, stroke, eye disease, kidney disease and nerve damage. Overview topics include healthy eating, being active, monitoring, taking medications, problem solving, healthy coping, and reducing risk. Sponsored by Total Care

Inventors Club of Centerville’s Summer Camp for Grades 1 to 8

Their minds are guaranteed to be stimulated while learning innovative ideas through hands-on activities, experiments, and creative science adventures. The Mystery of the Missing Necklace: A Theatrical Production

Around the World in 5 Days
Monday through Friday: June 23 to June 27; July 14 to July 18 both sessions from 9:00am to noon. No need to pack a suitcase…this trip is happening right here in the community center! Five days of travel to fi ve different countries to taste their foods, learn their songs and dances, try on their clothes, play their games, and do the same kind of art activities kids do around the world! On Fridays, parents get to come in early, sample the international foods and view the kids’ art exhibits. Cost: $40 per child per session (exact cash only) with a $5 discount for siblings. Spotlight on America for Children Ages 6 to 14
Monday through Friday: July 7 to July 11 from 9:00am to noon. Campers will tour three unique areas and cultures within the United States: New Orleans, San Francisco, and Native American culture from the Atlantic to the Pacifi c. Through hands-on experiences with art, music, foods, and history, campers will learn about many interesting people within our very culturally diverse country. There will also be a Coca-Cola art day and a Christmas in July day! Friday will be a surprise art judging contest and a lucky camper will win a ticket to the World of Coke!
