Building Inspections Section

The Building Inspections Section (structures, plumbing, electrical and HVAC) is responsible for all building construction related inspections with the goal to protect life, limb, property, and adherence to applicable codes. This goal is accomplished through identifying structural strength and stability, establishing viable means of egress, proper sanitation control, adequate lighting and ventilation, energy conservation, and personal property safety from fire and other hazards.

Hours of Operation: 7:00-5:00 Monday through Friday

To speak to a residential structural inspector, a commercial or multifamily structural inspector, an electrical inspector, a mechanical (HVAC) inspector, or a plumbing inspector, please call 678.518.6050 between the hours of 7:00 and 7:30 am or 3:00 and 4:00 pm. Inspectors are in the field from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm.

The Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development is pleased to provide citizens, businesses, and visitors access to our new online application services that includes requesting a building inspection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a minimum of down time for site maintenance. After requesting your inspection through the automated system you may establish a set time range for the inspection. Please contact the Building or Development Inspectors directly at 678-518-6050 between 7:00–7:30 AM or the Fire Inspectors at 678.518.4980 between 7:00-7:30 AM. You must speak directly with the inspector to confirm a preferred time range.

Building inspections can also be requested over the phone. The Gwinnett County Interactive Voice Response Inspection Request System (IVR) is available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week. Please call 678.518.6277 to schedule an inspection. After requesting your inspection through the automated system you may establish a set time range for the inspection. Please contact the Building or Development Inspectors directly by calling 678-518-6050 between 7:00 – 7:30 AM. Please contact the Fire Inspectors at 678.518.4980 between 7:00-7:30 AM. You must speak directly with the inspector to confirm a preferred time range.
