Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) Study Update
Ten years ago Gwinnett County initiated its first Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study in the area within and surrounding the Gwinnett Place Activity Center. The time has come to refresh the 2001 study! The Gwinnett LCI 10-year Update is a joint effort of the Gwinnett Place CID, Gwinnett County, and the Atlanta Regional Commission with anticipated completion in March 2012. Your voice is needed! Gwinnett Place LCI Study Update

Livable Centers Initiative

In central Gwinnett County, there is an emerging activity center in the area bounded by the Gwinnett Civic & Cultural Center, the Discover Mills Outlet Center, and Gwinnett Place Mall. This area is comprised of many types of land uses including commercial and retail services, industrial employment centers, civic and public buildings, and single-family and multifamily housing (i.e., apartments, townhomes, etc.). Also included within this study area will be a transit center for the Gwinnett County Transit System.

The Atlanta Regional Commission gave Gwinnett County a grant to conduct a study of this activity center. The aim of the Gwinnett Livable Center Initiative (LCI) project was to identify Gwinnett's place - a new downtown in the suburbs - and assist it to become the "main street" of Gwinnett County. This study looked at many factors that may influence the way the area grows and develops.
