Firearms/Gun Permits
|
To obtain a Firearm/Gun Permit, first contact the Gwinnett County Probate Court at 770.822.8250 or visit www.gwinnettcourts.com. Probate Court is located in the Gwinnett Justice Administration Building, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville. Once the application process is completed at Probate Court, applicants have 90 days to complete the fingerprint portion at the Permits office. The completed and processed application must be provided to the Permits office.

Fingerprinting
|
The Permits Unit processes Ink Fingerprinting at a charge of $10 per card. The only LiveScan fingerprints conducted by the Permits Unit are for Firearms/Gun Permits after the application process has been completed at the Gwinnett County Probate Court.

Criminal Background Checks
|
The Permits Unit processes criminal history/background checks for the state of Georgia only at a charge of $20. Criminal history/background checks will be completed within three business days. In some cases, you may receive it while you wait or be required to return to the Permits office to pick up the criminal history report. If you are unable to return, it can be mailed to a specified address. The criminal history report may be used for an expungement but the Permits Unit does not process expungement requests.

|
Expungement requests for Gwinnett County Police arrests are received by the Gwinnett County Police Department, Records Unit at 770 Hi-Hope Road in Lawrenceville. Expungement requests for Gwinnett County Sheriff arrests are received by the Gwinnett County Sherriff’s Department headquarters at 2900 University Parkway (Highway 316) in Lawrenceville.
