The Traffic Engineering and Planning Division's responsibilities include ensuring a safe and efficient transportation system for Gwinnett County by directing and coordinating all aspects of development and maintenance of short, intermediate and long-range transportation plans for the county. The division also monitors existing conditions, maintains traffic volume and traffic accident databases, including analyses, reports and recommendations for corrective measures. It is also responsible for developing and managing a residential speed control program. The division maintains over 680 signals, 170 flashers, over 60 miles of fiber optic communications cable, 50 CCTV cameras and the operation of the new Traffic Control Center.
