GWINNETT COUNTY TRAFFIC ENGINEERING
TRAFFIC COUNT REPORT 2011

This report is an alphabetical listing of permanent count stations that are repeatedly counted on an annual basis, using electronic equipment.  The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation provide data for this listing.

The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation has included all available traffic counts for the last five years (2006 - 2010).  If a particular count location or year is missing, please call us at (770) 822-7400 and we will attempt to include it in our next year’s update (by March 1, 2012).  Please visit our website then for new traffic count information.

Thank you.

COLUMN DEFINITIONS

The ROAD ON column is a description of the road name where the count station is found

The "BETWEEN" & "AND" columns designate the two cross streets on the main road where the count station is located

The AGENCY column designates the agency that collected the data: Private Contractor (P), State (S) or County Personnel (C)

The DATE COUNTED column shows the actual day on which the traffic count began.  Traffic counts are typically conducted for a twenty-four hour period.

The DAY OF WEEK column represents the actual day of the week on which the traffic count began.  If a traffic count was conducted over a period of several consecutive days, letters "AVG" will appear in the column to designate the count as an average for the period.

The EQUIPMENT column represents the equipment used to collect the data: Loop Counter (L), Tube Counter (T), Accumulation Counter (A), and Permanent Counter (R)

The NBEB VOL column represents the actual, unadjusted Northbound or Eastbound traffic volume counts

The SBWB VOL column represents the actual, unadjusted Southbound or Westbound traffic volume counts

The PEAK HOUR 'RAW' VOL column is the greatest number of vehicles that were counted during any one-hour period during the twenty-four hour collection time

The EST. PEAK HR VOL column contains the average peak hour traffic counts for that station number found by applying the adjustment factors shown on page c of this report, as explained above

The D-FACTOR column is the directional factor measured in percent.  In this case, the number shown is the percent of the peak hour total that occurs in the direction of traffic flow containing the highest volume during the peak hour.  For example, if the peak hour total (the amount for the entire road) is 1000 vehicles and the northbound flow of vehicles during that peak hour is 600, then the D Factor for that section of roadway would be sixty percent; found by dividing 600 by 1000.

The TOTAL 'RAW' VOLUME column represents the actual, unadjusted 24-hour traffic volume counts

The EST. ADT column contains the average daily traffic (ADT) counts for that station number found by applying the adjustment factors shown below.  To find the "ADT" for a particular count, the unadjusted amount in the "Total 'Raw' Volume" column is multiplied first by the adjustment factor for the month in which the count began. Then this product is multiplied by the adjustment factor for the day of the week on which the count began. The final result is the estimated average daily traffic (EST. ADT).
