Motorists should expect nighttime delays on sections of I-985 north of the I-85 interchange as crews work overnight to replace portions of failing and damaged concrete.

Three Georgia Department of Transportation contractors are working Sunday through Friday nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. to remove damaged slabs and pour new concrete between I-985 at I-85 and Lula Road (State Road 52). Crews from Georgia Bridge and Concrete of Tucker, J.A. Long of Fortson, and Precision 2000 of Atlanta are working simultaneously on 30 individual projects at night to minimize disruption to traffic.

Single intermittent lane closures are necessary to complete these repairs. Motorists are advised to be alert and watch for workers in the lanes.

The project should be completed by the spring of 2018 and will create a driving surface that should last 20 to 30 years.

For more information about the project, visit the Georgia Department of Transportation website.
