Capture Gwinnett County parks unique and scenic features by participating in the 2014 Gwinnett Parks Plein Air Challenge. “En plein air” is a French expression meaning "in the open air," and used to describe the act of painting outdoors. This year, the Plein Air challenge has been extended to encourage more artists from all over the state to get involved.

The challenge began in April, but new dates have been added in September and October. The challenge will end with an opening night reception held on Saturday, November 22 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center, located at 4650 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Berkeley Lake.

A cash prize provided by the Gwinnett Parks Foundation will be given to the top three award winners. The first prize entry will also receive recognition in the winter edition of Gwinnett L.I.F.E. magazine and gallery space for one month at Peachtree Corners Library. Top three winners and seven honorable mentions will be featured in a three-month event tour at parks and libraries throughout the county.

Submission fees are $36 per painting, limit two per artist. For prospectus and registration information, including challenge dates and locations, visit www.gwinnettparks.com. Participants must be at least 16 years old and register to enter the reception and exhibition held November 22.
