Police academies coming soon for residents, clergy

Applications for the next Police Department Citizens Academy are due June 26. The next session begins July 14 and include topics such as organizational structure, crime scene investigations, traffic enforcement, and more.
In addition, the department will hold its first ever Clergy Citizens Police Academy. Sessions will be held on Mondays from August 17 to September 21. There will be no class on Monday, September 7 due to the Labor Day holiday. Applications must be received by August 3 to be considered for the academy. Each class will begin at noon and end at 5:00pm.
