Person Shot Call - 2 Victims

Update #1 – Tuesday, July 21, 2015: (Atlanta, Georgia)  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that the incident took place during a backyard volleyball game.  About 30 people (mostly Hispanic) were playing volleyball in the backyard of 4763 Winters Chapel Road in unincorporated Atlanta. 

At the home next door (4769 Winters Chapel Road), three men were watching the volleyball game from the driveway.  At some point during the game, someone from 4763 Winters Chapel Road fired several shots at the three men. 

One victim (Juan Aguirre – age 53) was shot in his upper chest and leg.  He came to rest at the location where he was shot.   

Another victim (Arnoldo Ortuno – age 47) was shot in his leg.  He fled the area and was later found on Spring Drive (about 2 blocks away). 

The final victim (Gerarldo Hernandez – age 53) was not shot.  He immediately ran to seek cover.  He was later found and interviewed.

Both gunshot victims were transported to the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville with non-life threatening injuries.  The status of their current condition is unknown.  (One victim was rerouted from his original destination.) 

All the witnesses and suspect(s) from 4763 Winters Chapel Road immediately fled the area on foot and in cars after gunshots were fired.  Evidence was collected at both properties.

Original – Monday, July 20, 2015: (Atlanta, Georgia)  On Sunday, July 19, at around 9:10pm, officers assigned to the West Precinct were dispatched to a Person Shot call in the area of 4769 Winters Chapel Road in unincorporated Atlanta (within Gwinnett County). 

One victim was located shortly after police arrival.  The victim was transported to the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.  The nature of the injuries and current condition are unknown at this time. 

At 9:35pm, a passerby heard a gunshot and saw a male on the ground.  Officers responded and located a victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.  He was transported to North Fulton Hospital.  His current condition is unknown. 

Members of the Crime Scene Unit and the Criminal Investigations Division responded to the scene.  The Crime Scene Unit processed the crime scene and collected evidence in this case.  The investigators made contact with witnesses and conducted interviews.
