LIVE HEALTHY GWINNETT CELEBRATES AMERICAN HEART MONTH

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 2, 2016) – Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women. To prevent heart disease and increase awareness of its effects, Live Healthy Gwinnett is proudly participating in American Heart Month. Healthy changes can lead to lower risks of developing heart disease, and those who already have heart disease should control and prevent risk factors. “We are excited to collaborate with multiple community partners this month to offer programs that educate our residents on the importance of lowering their risk of heart disease by being active and eating healthy”, said Tina Fleming, Division Director of Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation.

Throughout the month, Live Healthy Gwinnett will be highlighting tips for Heart Health during the various events scheduled. Walk the Talk on Saturday, Feb. 6 at Bogan Park at 9 a.m. will be led by Harken Health and Saturday, Feb. 20 at Rhodes Jordan Park at 9 a.m. led by Gwinnett Medical Center’s Chest Pain Specialist. Heart Healthy shopping and cooking classes will be on Saturday, Feb. 13 at Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center at 9 a.m. led by UGA Extension and on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Mountain Park Activity Building at 9 a.m. led by Start With The Inside. All programs are free to attend and open to all ages.

Live Healthy Gwinnett is always seeking community partnerships who share in the mission of promoting positive change in the Gwinnett Community. For more information visit livehealthygwinnett.com or contact Lindsey Jorstad at lindsey.jorstad@gwinnettcounty.com.
