LIVE HEALTHY GWINNETT HONORED WITH PRESIDENT'S COUNCIL ON FITNESS, SPORTS & NUTRITION COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP AWARD
(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 3, 2016) – The President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition has selected Live Healthy Gwinnett to receive a 2016 President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award. The award is given annually to individuals or organizations who improve the lives of others within their community by providing or enhancing opportunities to engage in sports, physical activities, fitness and nutrition-related programs.
Live Healthy Gwinnett takes aggressive steps to improve the health and wellness in a community of more than 877,900 residents and is honored to receive a 2016 President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership Award. Live Healthy Gwinnett’s comprehensive wellness program enables people to choose more effective ways to handle stress, maintain healthy habits and preserve healthy relationships. In 2015, Live Healthy Gwinnett offered and/or was an organizing part of more than 90 program, classes and special events resulting in a direct impact to more than 3,870 community members.
“The community partners of Live Healthy Gwinnett work consistently to promote opportunities for individuals to lead healthy lifestyles through physical activity and/or healthy nutrition,” said Shellie Pfohl, Executive Director of the Office of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition. “Because of Live Healthy Gwinnett’s efforts and contributions, the Gwinnett community can embrace a more active lifestyle. Together, we are all working to make our nation a healthier one by helping individuals across the nation live vibrant, vivacious, and productive lives.”

This year, in honor of its 60th Anniversary, the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition presented the Community Leadership Award to 60 recipients across the country for making sports, physical activity, fitness, and nutrition-related programs available in their communities.
