GWINNETT COUNTY ANNOUNCES AWARDS FOR THIRD ROUND OF COVID-19 NONPROFIT FUNDING OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM

(Lawrenceville, Ga., April 14, 2021) – The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday announced funding awards for the third round of the County’s COVID-19 Nonprofit Funding Opportunity Program, which uses federal CARES Act funding to provide support to nonprofit organizations assisting residents affected by COVID-19.

The County received a total of $12.2 million to fund nonprofit organizations continuing to offer relief services to Gwinnett County residents. Funding will be administered through the Community Development Block Grant program, which seeks to enhance community-based services, and the Emergency Solutions Grant program, which will concentrate on homelessness needs.

Funding will also be used to initiate two new County programs. An economic development program will provide aid and assistance to help support small businesses that deliver COVID-19-related relief services.

Additionally, a mental health initiative will connect Gwinnett County residents impacted by COVID-19 with a wide range of mental health service providers.

Gwinnett County staff surveyed nonprofits, residents and officials prior to the application cycle to develop strategic priorities and identify areas of impact that would benefit most from these funds.

“We’re grateful that this funding allows us to lend a helping hand to nonprofits as they work to support our community through this difficult time,” said Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson. “By focusing the funds on these areas, we’ll be able to amplify the amount of help available to those who need it most.”

Residents in need of immediate assistance are encouraged to access community resources at GCGA.us/COVID19Resources and GCGA.us/RentalAssistance.

Further details on the third round awards and all related updates are available at GCGA.us/Grants or by calling (678) 518-6008.
