(Lawrenceville, Ga., Sept. 2, 2022) – The Gwinnett County Historical Restoration and Preservation Board is accepting nominations for individuals or organizations who have contributed significantly to preserving and protecting Gwinnett’s history. Inductees will be recognized at the Preservation Awards Ceremony set to take place in December. Nominations must be submitted by Monday, Sept. 19.

The nominating criteria range from historic restoration and preservation work to the contribution of meaningful historical artifacts, oral histories and written historic documentation or publication.

“The Board is pleased to announce the return of the Preservation Awards. It is our goal to honor members of the Gwinnett community who have contributed to preserving and teaching our history,” said Ann Bender, chairwoman of the Historical Restoration and Preservation Board.

The five-member board was established in 1973 by county ordinance, with one member appointed by each district commissioner and one appointed by the chair of the Board of Commissioners. The county historian, appointed by Gwinnett’s chief judge of the Superior Court, serves in an advisory capacity.

Commemorative markers will be placed on a stone monument located on the Preservation Lawn at Isaac Adair House and the Lawrenceville Female Seminary.
