(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 8, 2010) - The public is invited to attend any of four upcoming meetings to comment on the initial findings of the 42-member Engage Gwinnett citizens committee that, since last fall, has been studying county services and how to fund those services.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 10, 2010) - All Gwinnett County government offices, with the exception of those operations required for the comfort and safety of the citizens of the county, will be closed Feb. 15 for the Presidents' Day holiday. All offices will resume regular working hours on Feb. 16.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 12, 2010) - Gwinnett Commission Chairman Charles Bannister presented his annual State of the County speech to a gathering of community and business leaders on Feb. 10 at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth. A video recording of the speech is available on both the County's website and on its cable TV channel.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 12, 2010) - Gwinnett County Commission Chairman Charles Bannister issued the following statement concerning the service delivery negotiations between Gwinnett County and the cities:

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 16, 2010) - Today Gwinnett officials held a ribbon cutting to open the new Police Headquarters Annex, at 800 Hi-Hope Rd. in Lawrenceville. The annex is home to the County's E-911 communications center, emergency operations center and backup data center. The project came in with a lower price tag and two months ahead of schedule.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 18, 2010) - Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau's next monthly meeting will be held on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Five Forks Library Branch, 2780 Five Forks Trickum Road in Lawrenceville. The commissioner will meet with constituents from noon to 2 p.m.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 19, 2010) - The public is invited to attend community meetings to comment on the initial findings of the 42-member Engage Gwinnett citizens committee that, since last fall, has been studying county services and how to fund those services. The first meeting was held on Feb. 18 in Duluth. Organizers strongly encourage interested citizens to make time for one of the three remaining meetings.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Feb. 25, 2010) - A construction project at the Lanier Filter Plant near Buford has allowed Gwinnett County to recycle almost two million gallons per day of filter backwash water since its completion in 2008. "After reviewing the data for the last two years, we're proud to announce that we're saving nearly two million gallons of water per day," said Acting Director of Water Resources Lynn Smarr.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 1, 2010) - Minor water leaks waste more than a trillion gallons of water each year in U.S. homes. "In a single home, leaks can waste more than 10,000 gallons every year - enough to fill a backyard swimming pool," said Peter Frank with Gwinnett County's Department of Water Resources. "Gwinnett County wants to help homeowners save money on their utility bills and save water in our community and for future generations."

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 2, 2010) - The public is invited to help plan ways to respond to both natural and manmade hazards in the Gwinnett area. The Gwinnett County Office of Emergency Management is seeking public input on the updated Gwinnett County Hazard Mitigation Plan. The draft plan has been posted to the County's website at www.gwinnettcounty.com.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 2, 2010) - The volunteers who serve on Engage Gwinnett will hold their  11^th full meeting on Wednesday, March 3 from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Gwinnett Center, 6400 Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth. The meeting will not be held should Gwinnett County Public Schools close on Wednesday due to winter weather conditions.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 4, 2010) - The Gwinnett Coalition for Health and Human Services will be hosting a community town hall meeting on Friday, March 26, 2010 to engage the public and community agencies and their representatives in updating the County's comprehensive health and human services plan.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 5, 2010) The Gwinnett Tax Commissioner's office has mailed the final 2009 property tax bills that reflect the recently-approved increase in the County millage rate. This bill is due May 15.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 9, 2010) - Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau's next monthly meeting will be held on Saturday, March 13 at Fire Station 12, 2815 Lenora Church Road in Snellville. The commissioner will meet with constituents from 10 a.m. to noon.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 9, 2010) - Gwinnett County will reduce the number of voting precincts from 163 to 155 to save money and operate more efficiently. In about 15 precincts, poll locations will change for various reasons. "These changes will affect about ten percent of Gwinnett voters," said Elections Director Lynn Ledford, "so we want to notify people that they'll get an official postcard in the mail if they are affected."

(Lawrenceville, March 9, 2010) - Gwinnett residents are now saving 54 million gallons of water every year thanks to a rebate program that started two years ago. The rebates pay homeowners either $50 or $100 for replacing old, inefficient toilets. About 5,000 have been replaced so far.

The six-month long initiative aims to involve and engage the community in county budget decision-making.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., March 17, 2010) - Gwinnett commissioners on Tuesday awarded a construction contract for $835,000 to install an artificial turf multi-purpose field at Duncan Creek Park in northeast Gwinnett County. The project includes renovating the existing multi-purpose field and warm-up area (approximately 140,000 square feet) with the installation of artificial turf, including permanent striping for football and soccer, with corners for lacrosse.
