(Lawrenceville, Ga., Jan. 23, 2026) – Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson has issued a declaration of local emergency in advance of the major winter storm forecasted by the National Weather Service.

WHAT:           Gwinnett County leadership will hold a news conference to share information about the County’s storm preparation and vital resources to help keep residents safe during the winter storm.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Jan. 24, 2026) – Due to the forecasted serious winter weather event, Gwinnett County has announced cancelations and closings.

WHAT:          Gwinnett County will operate six warming stations beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24. In addition to the County’s five regular warming station locations, the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center will be open to the public during this time.

(Buford, Ga., Jan. 21, 2026) – At 7:28 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a business fire at Dillard's in the Mall of Georgia at 3333 Buford Drive in Buford. 911 callers stated there was a dumpster fire in front of the mall, and the flames were catching the building on fire.  

WHAT:              The International Walk for Peace will arrive in Gwinnett County. Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson will welcome the Buddhist monks and recognize the walk.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., 1/13/26) – Gwinnett Judicial Circuit District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson announced her Office's decision to not file charges in connection with the August 8, 2025, shooting death of Tevin Hood.

(Lilburn, Ga., Jan. 11, 2026) – Firefighters responded at 6:23 p.m. to a report of a house fire at the 200 block of Sandra Drive in Lilburn. The 911 caller advised that the house was burning, and people were still inside the home.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Jan. 16, 2026) – Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson will serve as Grand Marshal of the 2026 Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade and Celebration, hosted by the United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County on Monday, Jan. 19.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 1, 2017) – Students interested in participating in Gwinnett County Government’s new Gwinnett Youth Commission have a few more days to turn in their applications. The County is launching a new initiative to develop youth leaders in Gwinnett by recruiting rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to join the Gwinnett County Youth Commission. The deadline for submissions has been extended from Monday, May 1 to Friday, May 5 at 5 p.m.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 1, 2017) – A Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement officer responded on May 30 to a report of a woman attacked by a rabid fox in the 300 block of Swanson Drive in Lawrenceville.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 12, 2017) – Free rabies vaccinations for pets of Norcross-area residents will be offered at a June 24 clinic sponsored by Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement, Planned PEThood, Animal Alliance of Georgia, Society of Humane Friends of Georgia, and Canine Pet Rescue.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 13, 2017) – A Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement officer responded on June 10 to a report of a woman attacked by a rabid fox in the 920 block of Cripple Creek Drive in Lawrenceville.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., Sept. 8, 2017) –  In response to Hurricane Irma, the Gwinnett County Animal Welfare and Enforcement Division has received about 60 dogs and cats from a shelter in Glynn County, which lies on the Atlantic coast.

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police Department burglary detectives would like to warn the public about a particular method commonly used by burglars to select targets.  Residential burglars often approach a target home and ring the doorbell.  If no one answers, the burglar goes to the back door and knocks there also.  If no one answers again, the burglar forces entry through the back door and burglarizes the residence.  Part of this scheme is having an excuse for ringing the doorbell in the first place, in case a resident answers the door.  Often the burglar will act as a door-to-door salesman and offer some product or service the resident is unlikely to want.
