  • Rhodes Jordan Park Construction Update

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., May 26, 2010) - Rhodes Jordan Park is set to undergo extensive renovation starting the first week in June and continuing thru summer of 2011. As a result of the construction activity at the park, certain areas and amenities will be closed to the public until the completion of the project. The playgrounds around the lake, the trail and the pavilions will be closed to the public. As a safety measure, patrons are advised to pay special attention to signage and stay away from areas under construction.

  • New Trash Plan Starts July 1, Offers More Recycling

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., May 28, 2010) - A new garbage and recycling program begins on Thursday, July 1, 2010, in unincorporated Gwinnett County. City residents are not affected by this new plan. Gwinnett County is mailing letters to all residential property owners on May 28 with details about the new plan, the assigned hauler and new garbage and recycling pickup day.

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., June 15, 2010) - Five Forks Trickum Road will get major improvements, Patterson Road will get a new bridge and Head Elementary School will soon have a new sidewalk to nearby neighborhoods after the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners approved the projects on Tuesday.   • New Trash Plan Moves Ahead

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., June 24, 2010) - U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. in Atlanta denied a motion by Waste Industries, Inc., for an injunction against Gwinnett County's new trash plan, saying the court will issue its reasons for the decision at a later date. This decision clears the way for the plan to go into effect on July 1 as planned. Starting next Thursday, there will be a uniform trash pickup day once a week for all homes in neighborhoods that are located in unincorporated Gwinnett County.

  • New Trash Schedule Starts Thursday

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., July 1, 2010) - The new trash pickup schedule begins on Thursday for all residential homes in unincorporated Gwinnett County. Each neighborhood will get collection and disposal service from one of five companies contracted by the County. Collection on each street will be on the same day of the week with exceptions only for New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Trash pickup will take place as usual on Monday, July 5 with no service delays due to the Independence Day holiday.

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., July 8, 2010) - Today Gwinnett County issued a request for qualifications, or RFQ, for firms interested in entering into a public-private partnership to operate Briscoe Field. This is the next step in the Federal Aviation Administration-sponsored pilot program that will help County officials study airport privatization options and possible changes in operations. Potential options may include privatization as a general aviation airport or the addition of scheduled passenger air service.

  • 2010 Property Tax Bills to be mailed by July 22

    (Lawrenceville, Ga. July 9, 2010) Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner Katherine Meyer announced that property tax bills for 2010 will be mailed by July 22. Payment installment dates are Sept. 22 and Nov. 15. At a minimum, half the tax amount due must be paid by the first installment date.
