(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 26, 2010) - Rhodes Jordan Park is set to undergo extensive renovation starting the first week in June and continuing thru summer of 2011. As a result of the construction activity at the park, certain areas and amenities will be closed to the public until the completion of the project. The playgrounds around the lake, the trail and the pavilions will be closed to the public. As a safety measure, patrons are advised to pay special attention to signage and stay away from areas under construction.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 27, 2010) - It's "officially" summer season at Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation Aquatic Centers and all of the pools will be open and operational Saturday, May 29! Come make a splash and stay cool this summer at one of the many Leisure Play Pools, which offer lots of fun features such as beach entry, water play structures, giant water slides, picnic areas and more! GCPR offers a wide-array of amenities for both fun and learning, including private, semi-private, and group swim lessons as well as private party rental opportunities!

(Lawrenceville, Ga., May 28, 2010) - A new garbage and recycling program begins on Thursday, July 1, 2010, in unincorporated Gwinnett County. City residents are not affected by this new plan. Gwinnett County is mailing letters to all residential property owners on May 28 with details about the new plan, the assigned hauler and new garbage and recycling pickup day.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 1, 2010) - Gwinnett officials say the water-conservation legislation that Gov. Perdue signed into law on the shore of Lake Lanier on Tuesday, June 1 will have a positive impact on Gwinnett County operations and policies.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 3, 2010) - Early voting for the July 20 General Primary election is  open 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Gwinnett Elections Office located at 455 Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville.

Attendees will meet buyers and contracting officers from the Purchasing Division and other metro Atlanta agencies to take advantage of networking opportunities and help them create relationships, learn County purchasing processes, and obtain information on current and upcoming projects. Attendees will also participate in presentations and roundtable discussions that will help acquaint present and potential suppliers with the County's procurement procedures.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 8, 2010) - Gwinnett County District 3 Commissioner Mike Beaudreau's next monthly meeting will be held on Saturday, June 12 at the Holly Pavilion in Tribble Mill Park, 2125 Tribble Mill Parkway in Lawrenceville. The commissioner will meet with constituents from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Gwinnett County's Commission District 3 covers the eastern part of the county from the Highway 78 corridor north to I-85, and includes the cities of Snellville, Loganville, Grayson, Dacula and Auburn.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 11, 2010) - The U.S. Economic Development Administration has awarded the Georgia Bioscience Joint Development Authority (GBJDA) a $50,000 short-term planning matching grant to conduct an economic development study that will assist in the creation and implementation of a vision, strategic plan, and short-term and long-term goals for the development of the 316 Corridor.  

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 15, 2010) - The Board of Commissioners today recognized Water Resources' Stormwater Division for earning the Phase I - Stormwater Program of the Year Award from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals. The statewide award is given to organizations that comply with federal and state stormwater rules and are committed to improving water quality and physical impacts to their community as demonstrated through stormwater program staffing, funding and implementation.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 15, 2010) - Five Forks Trickum Road will get major improvements, Patterson Road will get a new bridge and Head Elementary School will soon have a new sidewalk to nearby neighborhoods after the Gwinnett Board of Commissioners approved the projects on Tuesday. The Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) will fund all three projects. 

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 15, 2010) - Commissioners today agreed to let the Gwinnett Archery Club use County land to provide recreational archery opportunities for Gwinnett residents.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 23, 2010) - Gwinnett commissioners left the millage rate unchanged from last year's final rate as they authorized the 2010 property tax billings on Tuesday.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., June 24, 2010) - U.S. District Court Judge Charles Pannell Jr. in Atlanta denied a motion by Waste Industries, Inc., for an injunction against Gwinnett County's new trash plan, saying the court will issue its reasons for the decision at a later date. This decision clears the way for the plan to go into effect on July 1 as planned. Starting next Thursday, there will be a uniform trash pickup day once a week for all homes in neighborhoods that are located in unincorporated Gwinnett County.

(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 1, 2010) - The new trash pickup schedule begins on Thursday for all residential homes in unincorporated Gwinnett County. Each neighborhood will get collection and disposal service from one of five companies contracted by the County. Collection on each street will be on the same day of the week with exceptions only for New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Trash pickup will take place as usual on Monday, July 5 with no service delays due to the Independence Day holiday.

(LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga., - July 2, 2010) Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation (GCPR) will kick off National Park and Recreation month by encouraging Gwinnett to get up, get out and explore your parks!

(Lawrenceville, Ga., July 8, 2010) - Today Gwinnett County issued a request for qualifications, or RFQ, for firms interested in entering into a public-private partnership to operate Briscoe Field. This is the next step in the Federal Aviation Administration-sponsored pilot program that will help County officials study airport privatization options and possible changes in operations. Potential options may include privatization as a general aviation airport or the addition of scheduled passenger air service.

(Lawrenceville, Ga. July 9, 2010) Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner Katherine Meyer announced that property tax bills for 2010 will be mailed by July 22. Payment installment dates are Sept. 22 and Nov. 15. At a minimum, half the tax amount due must be paid by the first installment date.
