  • Thank You Volunteers!

    (Lawrenceville, GA, October 11, 2010) On October 2, volunteers donated over 100 hours of service for Perk-Up Pinckneyville, sponsored by Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation, the Gwinnett Parks Foundation, Gwinnett Great Days of Service and Hands on Atlanta. The project included a beautiful mural at the Pinckneyville Park Community Recreation Center game room and renovation of a raised outdoor garden. Children, teens, adults and seniors came together as a team and using the plants, paint, mulch and planting needs donated, completed the Perk-Up Pinckneyville project. This joint effort was a true testimonial of what the residents of Gwinnett can and will do to improve our recreation facilities.

  • Gwinnett Parks Foundation 5K

    (LAWRENCEVILLE, GA., Oct. 11, 2010) - The Gwinnett Parks Foundation will be hosting a 5K road race on Sat., Nov. 13 at Tribble Mill Park.

    The race features a beautiful 5K course on the trail at the park as well as a special Canine and Carriage for those wanting to run with their dogs or strollers. All registered runners will receive a race t-shirt. Medals will be given to all participants who finish and awards will be presented to Overall Male and Female, Master Male and Female and 3-deep in five-year age categories.

With the end of Daylight Savings time on November 7 comes cooler temperatures and shorter days, which means less daylight for your park adventures! In order to continue providing a safe and enjoyable environment, GCPR will be installing new Park Smart signs at various parks.     (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 1, 2010) - Gwinnett County Voter Registration and Elections wants to inform voters about write-in candidate requirements before they head to the polls tomorrow. Gwinnett Elections Director Lynn Ledford said, "There is a misconception that votes for any write-in candidate will be tabulated. However, Georgia has laws in place that govern ballot access, including ballot access by write-in candidates."

  • Officials Cut Ribbon On Two Fire Stations

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 4, 2010) -  On Tuesday, Gwinnett County officials held ribbon cutting ceremonies to open two fire stations in northeast Gwinnett. Fire Station 18 moved from its previous location on Braselton Highway into a larger, three-bay station at the corner of Mineral Springs Road and Hog Mountain Road in Hamilton Mill. The $5.1 million sales-tax funded station includes living quarters for firefighters, a commercial-grade kitchen, office space and a community classroom.
