  • County Offices Closed For Veterans Day

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 4, 2010) - All Gwinnett County government offices, with the exception of those operations required for the comfort and safety of the citizens of the County, will be closed Thursday, Nov. 11 for the Veterans Day holiday. All offices will resume regular working hours on Friday, Nov. 12.

    A Magistrate Court judge will be available at the Gwinnett County Detention Center.

  • Gwinnett Tops In Credit Ratings

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 10, 2010) - Three major credit ratings agencies have reaffirmed Gwinnett County's overall credit rating as AAA with a stable outlook, citing the County's conservative financial management policies and practices as key factors. In addition, the Gwinnett County Water and Sewer Authority and the Gwinnett County Development Authority were also confirmed AAA from Moody's, Standard and Poor's and Fitch Ratings.

  • Last Sugarloaf Parkway Link Gets Under Way

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 17, 2010) - Gwinnett commissioners awarded a construction contract today to build the final leg to extend Sugarloaf Parkway to State Route 316. It's the last of four contracts to build the first phase of a new, four-lane roadway from the previous end at State Route 20 south of Lawrenceville to SR 316 in the Dacula area. When completed, the new road will have interchanges at New Hope Road, Martins Chapel Road, Campbell Road and State Route 316.

  • Graves Park Is Going Greener

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 17, 2010) - Graves Park will get more than 1,900 new trees under a reforestation contract that Gwinnett commissioners awarded Tuesday to low bidder Tri Scapes, Inc. The project follows recommendations made by the Engage Gwinnett citizens committee last spring. That group said the County should use SPLOST funds to make park renovations that will reduce operating costs like mowing and irrigation.

  • Road Improvements Paid By Splost Fund

    (Lawrenceville, Ga., Nov. 18, 2010) - Several road improvement projects funded by the SPLOST sales tax programs got a green light from Gwinnett commissioners on Tuesday. The board also entered an agreement with Gwinnett Village CID to contribute $5.4 million to intersection and sidewalk projects there and approved using almost $216,000 in federal stimulus funds to replace light bulbs in traffic signals with energy saving LED lights.

    WHAT: Gwinnett County will celebrate America Recycles Day, a nationally-recognized initiative. The celebration is free to the public and includes paper shredding and electronics recycling ($10 cash to recycle TVs), touch-a-truck, kids’ activities, giveaways and refreshments.
