The Gwinnett Animal Advisory Council (GAAC) was established in 1993 by resolution. It was revised in July, 2002, and on December 11, 2012.
The Council shall be an advisory council for the purpose of studying, making recommendations, and offering professional advice to the Board of Commissioners regarding animal welfare and other animal-related issues in Gwinnett County.
The Council shall be composed of seven (7) members, as follows:
- The Chairman shall appoint one member
- Each member of the Board of Commissioners shall appoint one (1) member (a total of four (4) members)
- One member shall represent the Gwinnett Municipal Association
- One member shall represent the Gwinnett County Board of Health
Members are not compensated. They must be residents of Gwinnett County and shall serve two-year terms.
