Lawn Care
A video is now available to provide instruction on how to landscape and care for your lawn while protecting water quality and saving money!

Proper lawn care techniques are directly linked to keeping neighborhood streams and water bodies healthy. Excessive amounts of fertilizer and pesticides can harm fish and other aquatic life as well as degrade the quality of rivers, lakes, and streams. Nutrients from fertilizers, usually phosphates, enter rivers, lakes and streams and stimulate the growth of algae. Excessive algae growth decreases oxygen levels in lakes and ponds, which kills fish and other aquatic life.

This video was produced in an effort to help homeowners understand lawn care basics and the importance of adopting "best management practice" lawn care techniques to ensure the protection of our waterways. This video presents a workshop conducted by Robert Brannen, of the Gwinnett County Cooperative Extension Service. Topics include: Environmentally friendly pest identification and removal, proper pesticide and fertilizer use, composting, and yard waste management.

There are two ways to view this program.
