The Georgia Department of Transportation is well under way with a construction project to widening the SR 20 bridge over the Chattahoochee River to four lanes.
This project is anticipated to be opened to traffic in spring of 2017.
The State contractor shifted traffic in early April on the two projects that span the Chattahoochee bridge leading into Forsyth County.
The shift moved drivers over to the newly constructed portions of the roadway from James Burgess west to Samples Road. This portion will remain an eastbound and westbound lane for traffic.
Traffic was split across the newly constructed bridge that will now hold one eastbound lane of traffic and two lanes of westbound traffic over the Chattahoochee.
Concept reports, and other documents related to this project can be accessed from the Georgia Department of Transportation’s interactive project search tool, GeoPI search for project ID 0002392 and 132985.
