Remember fire safety when cooking this holiday season

Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires, followed by Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services and the National Fire Protection Association are calling on all cooks to include fire safety in their recipes and meal preparations.

SPLOST: Officials cut ribbon on fire training tower at Maxwell High School of Technology

County officials held a ribbon cutting to mark the opening of a four-story fire training tower built on the campus of Maxwell High School of Technology at 990 McElvaney Road in Lawrenceville on Tuesday, November 14. The project is the result of an intergovernmental agreement between the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners and the Gwinnett County Board of Education.

Offices closed and trash service delayed for Thanksgiving holiday

All Gwinnett County government offices, with the exception of those operations required for the comfort and safety of residents, will be closed Thursday, November 23 and Friday, November 24 for the Thanksgiving Day holiday. County offices will resume normal business hours on Monday, November 27. A Magistrate Court judge will be available at the Gwinnett County Detention Center during the holiday.
