AFTERNOON HOUSE FIRE IN SUGAR HILL UNDER INVESTIGATION

(Sugar Hill, Ga., July 20, 2016) – Firefighters responded on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 3:42p.m., to a neighbor report of a house fire in the 4800 block of Parkview Mine Drive, NE in Sugar Hill.  The caller to 9-1-1 reported smoke coming from the house and no answer at the door.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke pushing from the basement of a two-story wood frame house.  Crews were met by an adult male occupant of the home who was spraying water into the basement from the outside with a garden hose.  The man reportedly returned home prior to firefighter’s arrival.

Fire crews quickly deployed attack hose lines and established a positive water supply from a nearby hydrant to support firefighting operations.  Firefighters gained fast-access inside the burning home to extinguish the flames and conduct a primary search.  The blaze was contained to the basement and caused moderate damage to contents.  There was no one inside the home and no injuries were reported.  The fire sent residual smoke throughout the rest of the house.  The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under active investigation by the fire department.  The blaze was brought under control at 4:04p.m.  The American Red Cross was contacted to assist two adult males who were displaced by the damage.
