FIRE AT VACANT WAREHOUSE RULED ARSON

(Lawrenceville, Ga. February 14, 2017) – Gwinnett County Fire Investigators are currently working to determine who is responsible for setting multiple small fires inside a vacant warehouse structure, located in the 500 block of Maltbie Street, NW in Lawrenceville.

Firefighters responded on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 1:47p.m.  A passerby saw black smoke coming from the building and called 9-1-1.  Crews arrived to find smoke showing from the rear of a large - metal warehouse structure and deployed attack hose lines.  Upon entering the building, firefighters were met with a smoke-charged environment and multiple spot fires burning.  Crews quickly extinguished the fires and conducted a primary search for victims.  No one was found inside the warehouse and no injuries were reported. 

According to Fire Investigators, the spot fires were intentionally set.  The building is vacant and no one was supposed to be inside per the property owner.  Fire Investigators are asking anyone with information about the fire or the individual(s) responsible to contact the authorities.
