FIRE DEPARTMENT RECOGNIZES PERSONNEL AT PROMOTIONAL CEREMONY

(Lawrenceville, Ga., April 15, 2016) – The Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services recently held a promotional ceremony to honor and recognize 59 department members who advanced in the ranks.  A prestigious badge pinning ceremony was held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at 5pm at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center in Lawrenceville.

The new promotions included 26 to Driver Engineer, 17 to Lieutenant, 11 to Captain, 3 to Battalion Chief, 1 to Deputy Chief and 1 to Assistant Chief.  “This is an exciting and historical time for the fire and emergency services department,” said Gwinnett Fire Captain Tommy Rutledge.  We are blessed and fortunate to have the support from our citizens, county staff and elected officials, which helps to make promotions like these possible.  The department continues to provide excellent fire, emergency medical, and community risk reduction services.  In 2015, the department responded to over 74,000 emergency incidents from 30-strategically placed fire stations throughout the county.  The department has an authorized strength of 898 highly trained and highly skilled personnel.

Those being promoted and their families were joined by Fire Chief Casey Snyder, county staff and elected officials.  Each expressed congratulations to the group for their achievements.  Chief Snyder addressed the group of new leaders and encouraged them to continue seeking success and to lead by example.

The ceremony concluded with a badge pinning ritual and photo-op as family members, including small children, stepped forwarded to pin the badge on the shirt of their loved-one.

Please see the below list of names of all those who received promotions and attached photos provided by the fire department.
