(Loganville, Ga., January 21, 2016) – Gwinnett County Firefighters responded on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at 10:56a.m., to multiple reports of a house fire in the 3900 block of Pine Village Place, SE in (unincorporated) Loganville.  The blaze was brought under control by 11:33a.m.  There were no injuries reported. 

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flames showing from the garage and bonus room of a single-story wood frame house.  A car inside the garage was also fully involved with fire.  Firefighters quickly deployed attack hose lines and entered the structure to combat the blaze and conduct a primary search.  Firefighters were forced to back-out as intense flames caused the roof to collapse in the center of the house.  Crews flowed water from multiple hand lines and an aerial ladder device to control the blaze and protect nearby exposures.  The flames threatened neighboring houses on both sides due to radiant heat.  The original house was considered a total loss due to the fire.  The houses immediately on both sides sustained significant melting of the exterior-wall siding material.  Two vehicles, the one in the garage of the burning house and a second SUV parked in the driveway, were also damaged by the fire.

Occupants were home in the house where the fire started and were alerted after smelling smoke.  They went to investigate and discovered the garage and vehicle inside ablaze.  Two adults, husband and wife, and a small child escaped unharmed.  A total of five people are displaced from the home due to the damage.  The American Red Cross was contacted to provide temporary assistance. 

The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under active investigation by the fire department.  Additional information will be sent when available.
