The following is a brief synopsis of a few storm related incidents handled this afternoon by fire and emergency services personnel.  It does not include all calls for the time period.

TREE DOWN AT RESIDENCE:

Firefighters responded at 5:06 p.m., to an occupant report of a tree down at a private residence in the 4400 block of Buckingham Place, NW in Duluth.  The Caller reported a tree blocking the front door.  Crews arrived to find a tree down that also pulled the cable and electrical service line away from the corner of the house.  Several small tree limbs came to rest on the roof of the home.  There was only minor cosmetic damage to the front of the house.  As a precaution, firefighters secured power at the electrical panel box and put up fire line tape around the live wires.  Georgia Power was requested to respond due to the downed service line.  There were no injuries reported.

Equipment at the scene included: 1-Engine

HOUSE FIRE/LIGHTNING STRIKE:

Firefighters responded at 4:57 p.m., to an occupant report of a house fire due to a lightning strike in the 2600 block of Berry Hall Road, SE in unincorporated Bethlehem.  The caller reported light smoke from the top of the chimney.  Crews found no sign of smoke or fire on arrival and conducted a recon of the structure.  There was no charring found and no indication of smoke or fire in the attic or crawlspace.  It appears that lightning hit the chimney and displaced a few bricks inside the firebox.  There was no major damage and no injuries were reported.
