LAWRENCEVILLE HOME GUTTED BY FIRE
(Lawrenceville, Ga., January 18, 2016) – Gwinnett County Firefighters responded on Monday, January 18, 2016 at 5:11p.m., to a report from a passerby of a house fire in the 1700 block of Pine Circle, NW in (unincorporated) Lawrenceville. Crews could see a heavy column of smoke from a distance as they responded to the scene. The caller to 9-1-1 reported the front of the house engulfed in flames at the time of the call. The blaze was brought under control by 5:33p.m.
Firefighters found a single-story ranch style home well-involved on arrival. Crews quickly deployed attack hose lines to battle the blaze and protect exposures. Firefighters had to knock down the bulk of the flames from the outside, before making entry to complete extinguishment and conduct a primary search. Firefighters flowed water from multiple hand lines to control the blaze. The fire caused heavy damage to the structure and contents. There was no one home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
Per Fire Investigators, the blaze appears accidental and may have been sparked by a miniature decorative (artificial) Christmas tree that was left on in the living room. One adult female occupant was displaced from the home due to the damage but denied Red Cross assistance. The woman was being assisted by nearby relatives.
Firefighters remind citizens to eliminate home hazards that could cause a fire to start. Following simple fire prevention rules can help keep your home and family safe. Install smoke alarms on every level and in each of the bedrooms. Develop a home fire escape plan and practice fire drills with the entire family.
