OVERNIGHT FIRE AT TOWNHOME - Barbados Lane in Suwanee
(Suwanee, Ga. January 28, 2018) – Firefighters responded at 3:17 a.m., to a neighbor report of a townhome fire in the 4100 block of Baverton Drive, NE in Suwanee. The caller to 9-1-1 reported flames visible from the garage. The actual address of the fire was the 300 block of Barbados Lane.
Crews arrived to find heavy fire showing from an attached garage in the center of a two-story townhome building. Firefighters quickly deployed fire attack hose lines and immediately entered the townhome to conduct a primary search and control the fire. Crews flowed water from multiple hand lines to extinguish the flames and checked for extension in adjoining townhomes. The blaze destroyed a car parked in the garage and burned the roof off over a portion of the attic. The fire extended inside part of the living space adjacent to the garage and caused extensive damage. She went to investigate and discovered the garage and vehicle ablaze. The woman quickly exited the home and was outside-safe when fire trucks and police arrived. She was evaluated and released at the scene by paramedics for a minor complaint. The woman declined assistance from the American Red Cross and was being assisted by family and friends.
