OVERNIGHT FIRE DAMAGES LAWRENCEVILLE RESTAURANT

(Lawrenceville, Ga., November 22, 2015) – Firefighters responded at 4:41a.m., to a report from a passerby of a business fire at the Eagles Landing Restaurant, located in the 3001 block of River Drive, SW in Lawrenceville.  The caller advised that smoke was pouring from the roof at the time of the 9-1-1 call.  The fire was brought under control by 5:15a.m.

Crews arrived to find a working fire in the back of a one-story wood frame and brick restaurant structure.  Firefighters quickly deployed attack hose lines and immediately entered the restaurant to extinguish the fire and conduct a primary search.  Flames were already in the attic and beginning to break through the roof over the kitchen as firefighters gained access inside.  The fire was contained to the back of the restaurant and caused heavy damage to the kitchen and attic above.  There was smoke damage throughout.  Firefighters had to pull the ceiling in the dining room to check for fire extension.

Per Fire Investigators, the blaze appears accidental and started in the wall due to an electrical malfunction.  The flames spread to the attic via the interior wall and eventually broke through the roofing material.  The restaurant was closed at the time the fire erupted and there was no one at the business when the fire department arrived.  There were no injuries reported.  The restaurant will remain closed for an extended time until repairs to the building can be made.  The owners and several employees were at the business when fire crews left the scene this morning.
