VEHICLE FIRE SPREADS TO LOGANVILLE HOME

(Loganville, Ga., July 28, 2015) – Gwinnett County Firefighters responded on Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at 10:48p.m., to a report of a house fire in the 160 block of Garden Manor Court, SW in Loganville.  A neighbor called 9-1-1 and reported a vehicle (SUV) on fire in the driveway that was quickly spreading to the garage.  Another neighbor tried to douse the flames with a portable fire extinguisher, but was unsuccessful.

Crews found heavy fire showing from the garage and second floor of a two-story wood frame house on arrival.  The vehicle was also engulfed in flames.  Firefighters deployed attack hose lines to control the blaze and to protect exposure houses on either side of the burning home.  There was no one at the house at the time the fire erupted and no injuries were reported.  The fire caused heavy damage to the house and the vehicle.

Radiant heat from the original house fire melted the siding on a neighboring house and caused moderate cosmetic damage.  Firefighters sprayed a curtain of a water curtain between the two houses to keep the flames from spreading further.  The family in the exposure house was temporarily evacuated until the fire was brought under control.

The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under active investigation by the fire department.  Additional media information will be sent when available.  See the below photo sent by the Gwinnett Fire-PIO.
