Armed Robbery Crew Apprehended
Members of a robbery crew responsible for numerous armed robberies in the Snellville area were apprehended May 24 by the Gwinnett County Police Department Robbery Unit.
Three gas stations along Stone Mountain Highway and Highpoint Road in unincorporated Snellville have been the target of a number of armed robberies since March. The suspects, two black males, used a black handgun to demand cash and cigarillos from cashiers at the stations and once robbed two people sitting in their car outside an adjoining laundromat.
The Robbery Unit identified the males, brothers Deontae and Kenneth Robinson, from surveillance footage and traced them to a residence along Highpoint Road. Both suspects were apprehended, and a search warrant of the residence uncovered stolen property from the robberies as well as the clothing the Robinsons wore on video during the robberies. The firearm used to commit the robberies was also recovered.
Deontae Robinson has been charged with three counts each of armed robbery and aggravated assault. Kenneth Robinson has been charged with four counts of armed robbery and three counts of aggravated assault. Both have been charged with the possession of the firearm. Although Kenneth Robinson is a juvenile, due to the severity of the crimes, he is being charged as an adult.
