UPDATE #3: Double Homicide Investigation - Suspect Arrested - Both Victims Identified

Update #3, 01/25/2017: The second victim has been identified as Michael Liberty (age 51, Norcross).  According to the initial report, Liberty and Tyree were shot in the garage of the home.  The lead investigator is still in the process of determining what events took place leading up to the shooting.  Following the investigation, the case will be handed off to the DAs Office for prosecution.  (Cpl. Update #2, 01/24/2017: One of the victims has been identified as Charles Tyree (age 40, Norcross).  Notification is still pending for the other victim.  (Cpl. Michele Pihera)

Update #1, 01/23/2017: Davon Dayron Jones (age 24, Duluth – pictured) has been arrested for 2 counts of Felony Murder and 2 counts of Aggravated Assault.  He is currently at Gwinnett County Police Headquarters awaiting transport to the Gwinnett County Jail. 

The circumstances leading to the murders are still being investigated.

Original, 01/22/2017: (Duluth, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police are investigating a double homicide on the 2100 block of Hopkins Mill Lane. The incident began shortly after 8 pm when police received the 911 call from the home. The caller stated two males had been shot inside the residence and the suspect fled the scene. Upon arrival, officers located one male deceased from a gunshot wound and another male also shot. The second male was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center- Lawrenceville where he later died. Detectives are currently working the scene to determine the cause of the shooting. At this point it appears that the shooter lived at the home with his other family members. The victims were family friends of the suspect who had been invited over to the home earlier in the day. At this point, the suspect’s location is unknown.  (Ofc. David Smith)
