Homicide - Cainbridge Drive, Lawrenceville

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is currently investigating a homicide on Cainbridge Drive, Lawrenceville.  Officers were originally dispatched to the area shortly before 3:00am in reference to gun shots being heard. When Officers arrived, they met with the male homeowner of 850 Cainbridge Drive. The homeowner had been shot in the leg. Officers acted quickly and applied a tourniquet to the homeowners’ leg.

The male said that while sleeping he heard the backdoor crash in and he went to investigate the noise. The homeowner, who was armed, encountered three males. Gunfire was exchanged inside of the home and the three males fled the scene.

Arriving Officers located a deceased male who had been shot, a short distance from the residence. The name of the decedent is not being disclosed at this time.

The homeowner was taken to a local area hospital. His status is unknown at this time.

The Homicide Investigation Unit and the Crime Scene Unit were called to the scene. After arriving at the home, detectives secured a search warrant, and the Crime Scene Unit began processing the scene. 

No suspects have been identified and we are seeking tips in this case.
