(Dacula, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department Homicide & Assault Unit is investigating a recent homicide at 2443 Hamilton Mill Road (McDonalds) in unincorporated Dacula.  The call originally came into the 911 Center as a “discharging firearm” call at 8:46pm (11/28/2016). 

When officers arrived at the restaurant, they found a man inside a black passenger car suffering from a gunshot injury.  A responding officer and a witness performed CPR on the victim until the Gwinnett County Fire Department could arrive. 

The man was eventually taken to the Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville where he died. 

The Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene, took photographs, and collected evidence.  Detectives are looking into the possibility that this crime may be drug related.  Though no specific suspect description is available, a red passenger car was seen fleeing the area after the victim was shot.  Another male (age 19, Auburn) was in the vehicle when the incident happened, but he was uninjured.

The victim has been identified as Kyree Shakur Smith (age 19, Lawrenceville).
