Homicide Investigation Exxon Parking Lot

(Lawrenceville, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police are investigating a dispute between two men that led to a person being shot to death in an Exxon parking lot. Shortly before 2 pm, police responded to a person shot call at 2339 Lawrenceville Highway. They arrived to find a male lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and later pronounced dead.

The investigation has revealed that the shooter stopped to fix a flat tire at the gas station when he was confronted by a male that he knew. The confrontation turned into a fight and prompted the shooter to retrieve his firearm from his vehicle. At some point during the confrontation, a single shot was fired. The shooter remained at the scene and is being interviewed by detectives. Detectives are working to determine how the two men knew each other and why the confrontation started. Names will be released pending next of kin notification.
