UPDATE: Homicide - Lawrenceville Hwy

Original, 11/22/2016: (Lawrenceville, Georgia)  Gwinnett County Police Department Homicide detectives are seeking tips in a murder that occurred earlier this evening.  The call came into the 911 Center at 7:45pm from the Walgreens Pharmacy located at 1556 Lawrenceville Highway in unincorporated Lawrenceville.  (The cross street is Sugarloaf Parkway.)

The caller told the 911 call-taker that a man was lying unresponsive near a silver car in the parking lot.  Officers assigned to the South Precinct along with the Gwinnett County Fire Department responded to the scene.  The victim was immediately taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville where he was pronounced dead. 

Homicide investigators have learned that the crime occurred in the parking lot in or near the victim’s silver vehicle.  The GCPD Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene to document the evidence.  Detectives are in the process of trying to get a suspect description from any available surveillance footage. 

The victim is a male in his 20s, though his identity will not be released until his next-of-kin can be notified. 

The victim’s silver vehicle was impounded to GCPD headquarters for processing. 

The suspect and ultimate motive are still unknown at this point in the investigation.
