Man Wanted for Shooting Roommate
(Lawrenceville, Georgia) The Gwinnett County Police Department is actively trying to locate a man who is accused of shooting his roommate yesterday. The call came into the 911 Center shortly after noon on Sunday, November 20. The call-taker was told that a man had been shot at 2041 Prospect Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
When the officers arrived at the home, they found 35-year old Justin Lopes suffering from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was lying on the sofa. His girlfriend was applying pressure to his injuries as they waited for an ambulance to arrive. Justin was eventually transported to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.
The detective assigned to the case learned that Justin told his girlfriend that he was going to go to the store. A few moments later, she heard the gunshot and then saw Justin come back inside the home. The incident happened in the driveway of the home.
Christopher Joseph Kemp (age 35) was identified as the shooter, though his motive is still unknown. Kemp is currently wanted for one count of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Justin is in critical, but stable condition.
