Original, 09/20/2016, 10am:(Norcross, Georgia)  As officers were arriving at the scene of a possible home invasion, the suspect(s) began shooting at them.  The call came into the 911 Center shortly after 2:10am from 1296 Williamsburg Lane in unincorporated Norcross.

A woman originally made the call from inside the home.  Utilizing a language interpreter service, she told the 911 call-taker that she was hiding inside the bathroom of the home with 3 children.  She said that her husband and another male family member were also inside the home when an unknown number of men made came into the house.

Officers assigned to the West Precinct arrived at the home several minutes later.  As soon as they got to the house, one of the officers came over the radio and said that someone had started shooting at them.  One uniformed officer returned fire, and the suspects ran away.

The GCPD helicopter and K9 Units were dispatched to the scene.  As the officers and K9 were doing a ground search, the helicopter was flying overhead.  One suspect was captured by a police K9.  Another suspect was found by uniformed officers.  Both suspects were taken to headquarters for questioning.  The other suspect(s) are still on the loose.  The detectives are working to determine exactly how many other suspects are still unaccounted for and their descriptions.

Because an officer fired his weapon during this event, the Deadly Force Investigation Team responded to the scene to begin their investigation.  The officer who discharged his weapon is currently on paid administrative leave.
