UPDATE:Pedestrian Fatality - Victim's Identity Now Known

Update #1, 10/24/216: The pedestrian has been identified as Jalen High (age 22, Lawrenceville). 

Adedotun Odunsi (age 38, Lawrenceville) was driving a 2016 blue Hyundai Sonata northbound on Lawrenceville Highway (Hwy 29) just past Wabash Drive.  Jalen was in the roadway when Odunsi struck him.  Odunsi left the scene and did not offer assistance to Jalen after he was hit. 

Shortly after hitting Jalen, Odunsi struck a guardrail on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road and Lawrenceville Highway (Hwy 29).  The officers found damage to his vehicle consistent with the pedestrian accident. 

Adedotun Odunsi was placed under arrest and charged with Vehicular Homicide, Hit and Run, and DUI.  He is currently at the Gwinnett County Jail.  (Please contact the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office regarding booking information.)

Original, 10/22/2016:

(Lawrenceville, Georgia) On October 22, 2016 at 3:46am Gwinnett County Police Officers responded to a Person Down call at Lawrenceville Highway south of Sugarloaf Pkwy. Upon arrival Officers located a partially clothed black male lying in the middle of the road. It was determined that the male had been hit by a vehicle. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. The male was not in possession of any identification and the Gwinnett County Police Department request the assistance of the public in identifying the victim. The victim is a black male, approximately 20-25 years of age. He has short black hair, brown eyes, and has facial hair (mustache and goatee). The victim also has multiple tattoos. At the time of the incident the victim was wearing a maroon shirt, black jeans, and brown boots. It was determined that the victim was crossing the street outside of the cross walk when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle left the scene, but was recovered a short distance later. The driver of the vehicle was arrested.
