Person Shot - Red Rose Court, Loganville

(Loganville, Georgia)  The Gwinnett County Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred this past Sunday, February 4.  The incident occurred at 3743 Red Rose Court in unincorporated Loganville around 4pm.

The victim (Gregory “Kyle” Rubio, age 23, Loganville) was found by responding officers suffering from a gunshot wound inside his home.  Other family members and friends were present, and they provided details about how this happened.

The suspect (Brannon Walker, age 35, Snellville) and victim previously knew each other.  Brannon is accused of shooting Kyle during a dispute at Kyle’s home.  (Details about the dispute are not being released at this time.)  Immediately following the shooting, Brannon called 911 stating that he shot Kyle in “self-defense.”  Brannon waited outside for responding officers.

During the course of the investigation, the facts in the case have revealed evidence that this incident was not “self-defense.”  Because of this, Brannon was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Assault and Home Invasion 1st Degree.

Kyle’s injuries are considered life-threatening.  Should he succumb to his injuries, Brannon’s charges could change.

The 911 audio will not be released at this time.
